NordVPN

Nord is definitely one of the best VPNs right now. Most people complain about the price, but it’s actually not that high, there are tons of lousy services that charge the same. Trust me, it’s worth it.

Dedicated P2P servers – that’s all I need to know. Plus, it’s fast, so seems pretty perfect to me.

It’s not as user-friendly as I though. The basics are fine, but I don’t understand anything about the protocols, they should explain it better because not everyone knows how these things work.

Got the 1-year plan because it’s way cheaper, no regrets so far. I mainly just watch TV shows, so I can’t say anything about other stuff, but for me, it works perfectly.

It gets NO STARS because that is Exactly what it is worth!!! (I guess I am FORCED to give it one star to get this review accepted!) This is the worst product I have ever had!!! Their "support" (if you want to call it that) Is TOTALLY WORTHLESS! I don't think those guys understand anything!!! It has been one of the MOST FRUSTRATING experiences in my 30+ years of IT work experience!!! Do yourself a BIG favor and use another product!

Avoid them, refund policy is completely lie! Many of their services not working also their app integrated with a trojan,

I’ve never been so satisfied with a VPN before. Honestly, I wish I’d started using it years ago.
  • Submitted By Sharon on 01/09/2018
I haven’t tried any other VPN so I can’t say it’s the best, but I personally love it. It’s well designed, it works perfectly, and I feel safe using it.

Winner

NordVPN offers great speeds, lightweight services, and an excellent client to everyone looking to improve their privacy and access restricted websites and media just about anywhere in the world.

Comparison Breakdown

In our NordVPN vs. PureVPN comparison, we have examined different important areas that most customers focus on when choosing a provider. These include apps, support, IP type, protocols, prices, reliability, and security and protection. Take a look at what each of the two providers has to offer in these particular areas.

A little caveat before we dig deeper, however. It doesn’t always come down solely to pure quality since these VPN providers don’t have an equal number of options available. Sometimes, your choice will be as easy as “Hey, these guys don’t support my Xbox.” It is also important to note that just because one of these providers may have better results doesn’t mean that it is the right choice for your needs. That being said, let’s see what they have to offer!

Apps

  • When it comes to devices it is supported on, NordVPN works on all major operating systems and platforms, including mobile ones. It even works on Windows Phone, which is a rarity in the VPN business. There’s a catch, however, as it currently doesn’t support Xbox. In the jungle of operating systems and platforms of today, this might seem like a minor inconvenience, but we would still like to see those Xbox users properly supported.
  • Just like its competitor, PureVPN is supported on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS, as well as on Xbox and routers. Unfortunately, Windows phone users will probably be disappointed to learn that PureVPN is not supported on their device. So, PureVPN spreads across all kinds of different platforms, except for Windows phone, which makes a pretty clear-cut distinction between the two VPN providers. Xbox users will opt for PureVPN, Windows phone users for NordVPN.

Support Type

  • NordVPN offers solid customer support, with a detailed knowledge base and FAQ section, as well as live chat and email support. However, don’t count on 24/7 phone support because the company doesn’t offer it. 99% of potential questions can be answered by a quick glimpse through the FAQs; live chat and E-mail are the second rings of support for everything not found in the aforementioned section.
  • Similarly to NordVPN, PureVPN support is available via live chat and email support. There’s also a comprehensive knowledgebase and FAQ. Unfortunately, there is no around-the-clock phone support here either, which makes the results based on this criterion pretty evenly matched.

IP Type

  • When it comes to the choice of IP addresses, NordVPN does very well. This provider offers dedicated IPs, as well as both static and dynamic shared IPs.
  • PureVPN only offers dedicated IP addresses but has a great number of IPs available – as many as 80,000 of them.

Pricing Options

  • The one-month plan with NordVPN costs $11.95, which is somewhat more expensive than the same plan with PureVPN, which costs $9.95. The six-month plan is $7.00 and the yearly subscription is $5.75 per month. NordVPN offers a lengthy money-back guarantee of 30 days and accepts Bitcoin, but there is no free trial or free limited version available.
  • As we said, PureVPN has a one-month plan that is cheaper than the competitor’s plan and comes up to $9.95. The six-month subscription is $7.49 per month (notice that this plan is just a bit more expensive than the same plan offered by NordVPN). Instead of a yearly subscription, PureVPN offers a two-year plan at just $2.08 per month. There is no free trial or free limited version and the money-back guarantee is much shorter than what is offered by NordVPN – it is only good for a week. PureVPN also accepts Bitcoin.

Protocols

  • This provider offers a nice selection of protocols, from OpenVPN to L2TP and PPTP, but there is no SSTP available.
  • PureVPN comes with all the same protocols as NordVPN, except it also offers SSTP.

Performance & Reliability

  • NordVPN has over 500 servers in 58 countries and allows up to 6 simultaneous connections. Speed, bandwidth, and server switching are unlimited and P2P is allowed.
  • Like NordVPN, PureVPN also has around 500 servers but in much more countries – 141 of them. Having that many servers spread across a much larger number of countries is a huge advantage. It allows up to 5 simultaneous connections, which is one less than its competitor. Bandwidth, server switching, and speed are uncapped here as well.

Security & Protection

  • NordVPN does not support IPv6 and does not offer split tunneling, NAT firewall and ad or malware blockers. However, it does have an Internet kill switch, Wi-Fi protection, and a strict no-logs policy. The strongest encryption level is AES-256.
  • When it comes to security, PureVPN does a bit better, since it has 1st party DNS servers, supports IPv6, has a kill switch, NAT firewall, and split tunneling, as well as Wi-Fi protection. On the other hand, the company, unlike NordVPN, does keep some logs.
