GOOSE VPN is a Netherlands-based VPN service that has been on the market since 2015. In all honesty, the service does not leave the best first impression, given that its server network is not too large and its app interface is slightly dated, which may leave potential users somewhat underwhelmed. However, this VPN does promise high-level security, zero logs, good speeds, unlimited simultaneous connections, and great ease of use, which is why we decided to give it a fair shot and check if it is actually as good as advertised. Read about our findings and impressions in this comprehensive GOOSE VPN review.

Interface

Goose VPN opted for a lively white-on-orange color scheme for its apps. While white text on a bright background may not be the optimal choice and the design itself may not be as modern and sleek as it could be, the apps are rather intuitive and easy to navigate. You only need to flip the switch to connect or disconnect, switching servers is just as quick, the settings are easy to understand and modify, and in-app support is a nice touch.

There are no complications when it comes to downloading and installing the apps. Everything can be done in a couple of clicks or taps and the registration process is simple and only requires you to enter your email address and password, so you can get started in no time.

Performance And Reliability

GOOSE VPN operates 97+ servers in about 30 countries on 6 continents. The majority of servers are located in Europe and the US and there are only a handful of servers in Africa, South America, and Australia. Still, server distribution is quite satisfactory and the service allows its users to request servers and vote for server locations they would like to see on the list.

Connection quality is generally high, the speeds are usually average to above average, and there are no speed limits. With specialized servers for media and P2P sharing, a good streaming and torrenting experience is guaranteed. While this VPN does not have dedicated leak protection, our tests revealed no DNS or WebRTC leaks, which is certainly great news.

Multi-Platform

GOOSE VPN boasts great compatibility. Dedicated clients/apps are available for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android, the service also works with Kodi, Android TV, Linux, and routers, and it further offers a Chrome extension. While conducting tests for the purpose of this GOOSE VPN review, we were happy to find out that the service indeed does not impose any limits on the number of simultaneous connections with a single account, which is quite unusual and praiseworthy.

Features

GOOSE VPN is not what we would describe as a feature-rich VPN. With no leak protection or any particular extras to sweeten the deal, it may not suit the tastes of experienced users. However, it can be a great fit for beginners and casual users who simply want their VPN to be reliable and user-friendly.

Until recently, GOOSE VPN didn’t even feature a killswitch. Fortunately, this is now fixed and a killswitch that protects you if your VPN connection suddenly drops is integrated into GOOSE VPN’s Windows client.

Specialized servers and P2P friendliness also make nice additions to the service. Servers for streaming and P2P sharing are clearly marked and strategically distributed across numerous countries on different continents, so you can stream any content you wish and safely engage in P2P sharing in torrent-friendly locations.

Other than that, considering the modest number of servers and security features, the only aspect that sets GOOSE VPN apart from the rest is the absence of limits in terms of concurrent connections.

Security And Privacy

On the security front, GOOSE VPN uses strong 256-bit AES encryption and allows you to choose from 4 protocols: IKEv2, L2TP/IPSec, PPTP, and the safest OpenVPN. You can easily switch between protocols at any time or allow the service to choose the best protocol for you, although we recommend going with OpenVPN at all times.

According to the company’s Privacy Policy, your online activity is never monitored and there are no traffic or connection logs, with the exception of bandwidth usage, which is logged for understandable reasons (the company offers subscriptions with both limited and unlimited data). Your real IP is only logged once, at signup, but no data is logged when you access your account. Thus, your privacy is preserved, even though the Netherlands is a part of the Nine Eyes alliance.

Support

In terms of customer support, GOOSE VPN does rather well. Its website features an excellent FAQ/Support section, which covers a vast array of topics that might be of interest to current and future users. The support staff is available 24/7, every day of the year. Contact options at your disposal include email, contact form, and live chat. The staff is highly responsive and promises to resolve all customer issues within hours.

Like we mentioned earlier in this GOOSE VPN review, the company offers subscriptions with limited and unlimited data. If you wish to enjoy unlimited data, you pay $12.99 per month with the monthly subscription or $4.99 per month with the yearly subscription, billed annually. Alternatively, you can opt for the monthly subscription with 50 GB of data per month, which costs just $2.99.

The service offers a 30-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee. However, it is worth noting that the free trial only includes 500 MB of bandwidth and in some countries, it comes with a 45-cent verification fee. Plus, the money-back guarantee only allows you to get a refund if you have used no more than 100 MB; in other cases, the company can refuse to issue a refund.

Accepted payment methods include iDEAL, PayPal, Giropay, and major credit cards including Visa, American Express, and MasterCard. Unfortunately, the company does not accept Bitcoin.

I told my wife this is a perfect vpn for her since it doesn’t require any technical knowledge. I’ve tried it for a month, it 13$ which is not that cheap considering it offers basic stuff but when you pay for a year it’s only 4.99 and I think that’s ok!

  2. Garrett Heath | April 20, 2019

In all honesty, fro the looks of it this vpn was really offputting. It looked like some unfinished project without much to offer but in reality it is a decent product. What I like the most is that is easy to install and operational for windows and ios. I have it as a chrome extension which is even quicker to launch.

  3. RandyMan | June 8, 2018

Simple and functional, solid speeds, but for me leak protection is a must.

  4. Eric992 | March 28, 2018

I would’ve given it 5 stars, but the free trial is just so ridiculous. First, it’s not even completely free if there is a verification fee, second, 500 MB. Why even call it a 30-day trial if you only get 500 MB, just say, you get 500 MB for free, without making it seem like you get to use it for free for a month. That said, I have no complaints about the VPN itself, it’s fast, P2P-friendly, no connection issues whatsoever.

  5. Andrea H. | January 22, 2018

Simple to use and actually works. I got the 50 GB plan because I don’t use VPN all the time, so it’s pretty cheap too.
